How to get a refund from Microsoft Copilot

Paid Microsoft Copilot for a plan or credits you never got, or got billed after you cancelled? Here's what Microsoft Copilot's own policy says, where to ask, and how to write a request that actually gets handled.

What Microsoft Copilot's refund policy says

Copilot for consumers now comes with Microsoft 365 plans (Personal, Family, Premium); Copilot Pro is no longer sold and its support ended August 1, 2026. Microsoft's subscription refund policy: in most cases a refund within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date (whichever is sooner), plus a refund of the most recent recurring charge if you cancel within 30 days after it, once per Microsoft account per product. Prorated refunds after that depend on plan and country: for Personal/Family they are only available in a short list of countries (not the US); for Premium, elsewhere only if cancelled within 14 days of initial purchase. Eligibility is shown during cancellation. Apple / Google Play purchases are refunded by those stores. Microsoft's two refund pages list slightly different countries for prorated refunds.

How to request it: Sign in with the purchasing Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com/services (Services & subscriptions) > Manage > Cancel; the cancel flow shows whether you qualify for a refund. For help: support.microsoft.com/contactus > Get Help (live chat available). App purchases: Apple or Google Play.

Bought it through the Apple App Store or Google Play? Those purchases are refunded through Apple or Google, not Microsoft Copilot directly.

  • Microsoft Copilot's official page — “In most cases, you may receive a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase or before your first recurring billing date (whichever is sooner)”
  • Microsoft Copilot's official page — “This refund right is limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.”
  • Microsoft Copilot's official page — “If you purchased a Microsoft subscription from Google Play or the Apple app store, contact their customer support for cancellation or refund.”
  • Microsoft Copilot's official page — “To check refund eligibility on a subscription you purchased from Microsoft, you will need to cancel it first.”
  • Microsoft Copilot's official page — “Copilot Pro is no longer available for purchase; existing subscribers can continue using it until they cancel or support ends on August 1, 2026.”

Checked against Microsoft Copilot's official pages on 2026-09-29. Policies change; the official page is always the final word.

How to write your request

  1. Lead with the facts: what you paid, the date, the amount, and the plan or credits you bought.
  2. Say exactly what you didn't get — the plan never activated, credits are missing, or you were billed after cancelling.
  3. Include your order or invoice number and any ticket number you already have.
  4. Ask for one clear outcome: a refund of a specific amount, or the plan/credits applied to your account.
  5. Keep it calm and short. Organized requests get resolved; angry ones get routed to the back of the line.

If they don't answer

  1. Reply on the same ticket or email thread instead of starting a new one, so your history stays attached.
  2. Keep a record of every message and every reply (screenshots help).
  3. If a week passes with no real answer, send a short, firm follow-up that restates the facts and gives a clear deadline.
